COZY AS SH*T

Don't let the sunshine fool you. So cold. But warm and snug inside.
My morning was devoted to job-search related housekeeping. Portfolio updates! Recruiter conversations! Vimeo analytics!
Then I spotted an intruder. No, Cori, I did not need a baseball bat or a gun. Just a broom. I nearly got all granola and took the little spider outside where he could, I guess, freeze slowly instead of being smashed quickly.
On closer inspection I realized he was coming up short a few legs and decided he was not a small spider but a large tick.
He ded.
After all that excitement, I settled onto the couch with a blanket and my copy of Save the Cat, unopened since Kansas City. That moment signaled the official beginning of achieving my primary goal here. (Falling only slightly ahead of trying to eat all the fruit and vegetables I brought with me before they go bad. That Aldi produce, am I right?) For those who've never contemplated screenwriting, The Save the Cat series by Blake Snyder is known to be a great place to start.
As I was reading, my mind strayed to Will asking me yesterday how many pages I'd written. "I'm still in the planning phase," I'd told him. Possibly defensively. This is my first time doing this kind of writing, and I've been reminding myself that it makes sense to measure twice and cut once.
I am not kidding—I refocused, continued reading and on the next page, Mr. Snyder advised: "Measure twice. Cut once."
It was a little gift from above to reassure me that I'm going about this the right way. Chills and gratitude.
Yes, Judy, I smiled and thought of you.
